Sharroky Hollie, Ph.D.
Executive Director

Sharroky Hollie is the Executive Director of the Center for Culturally Responsive Teaching and Learning and co-founder of the acclaimed Culture and Language Academy of Success in Los Angeles. Culturally and linguistically responsive teaching is an approach designed to validate each and every student by affirming the students’ home language and culture. Dr. Hollie is an Assistant Professor at California State University Dominguez Hills. He travels the country educating teachers and administrators, has served as a literacy consultant for the California Department of Education, and as a professional development coordinator for the Academic English Mastery Program. His work is featured in Teaching African American Learners to Read, published by the International Reading Association.  Full bio ->


Janis Bucknor, Esq.
Chief Financial Officer

Janis Bucknor is an educator, administrator, and co-founder of the Culture and Language Academy of Success (CLAS) Charter School. She also serves as the Chief Financial Officer of the Center.


Carlos Barron
Senior Consultant

Carlos C. Barrón earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and Mexican American Studies, at California State University, at Los Angeles, and his teaching credential from the University of Southern California. He holds a masters degree in education and is currently enrolled in the Education Leadership, Administration and Policy doctoral program at Pepperdine University. Mr. Barrón’s area of expertise lies in the education of Mexican American/ Latino students in the public school institutions of California. His advocacy reaches from the human and civil rights of disenfranchised ethnic populations to their esthetic and social contributions to the greater American culture. Carlos is the recipient of many honors from the City of Los Angles, State of California, and the National Education Association. He served as President of the Los Angeles County Arts Commission and was just recently reappointed to his 14th year as arts commissioner. Full bio ->
