CCRTL brings its considerable expertise, resources, and experience to all educational communities – K-12 schools, district administrators, academia, community organizations, and other non-profit organizations.
Our primary goal is to encourage schools to infuse the concept of culturally responsive pedagogy and utilize its instructional methodology in all areas – curriculum, administration, and community outreach – for the single goal of improving the academic experience of underachieving students.
History
The Center for Culturally Responsive Teaching and Learning (CCRTL) has been providing professional development for educators in the area of culturally responsive pedagogy for the past five years. Dr. Sharroky Hollie, Executive Director, and Carlos Barron, Senior Consultant, have been working with local, state, and national school districts and organizations since 2000. In that time, they have trained nearly 10,000 educators.
In 2003, CCRTL organized as a non-profit organization and now has a team of
consultants with a variety of expertise. Culturally responsive pedagogy represents
a key research-based instructional and organizational approach for educating
diverse learners and provides a framework for successfully responding to No
Child Left Behind requirements.
